About Ballet Classes at Gotta Dance Company
![]() Ballet serves as the backbone for many other styles of dance, as many other dance genres are based on ballet. Ballet is based on techniques that have been developed over centuries using music and movement to tell a story. Gotta Dance Company offers several levels of ballet to fit student needs based on previous technique and advancements in current classes. Technique will be focused in the Italian Cecchetti method. A typical ballet class in our Peoria dance studio will begin by working at the barre to warm up and stretch, then dancers will move into the center for ballet combination, and across the floor work. Each level advances in pace and expectations will increase as students advance. Students are also expected to learn proper ballet vocabulary and expand their knowledge of technique. Pointe students will be learning monthly variations and focusing on strength and agility. Students are asked to maintain a respectful attitude to the art of ballet, their peers, and teacher throughout class. We offer beginning, intermediate, and advanced ballet classes for students ages 5 and up. Since ballet is the foundation for all dance types, it is a co-requisite for any contemporary or lyrical classes for all of our dance students at our Peoria dance studio.
